He swears he's laughing with me, not at me

I was trying to take a picture of Christian smiling.

But I'm not fast enough with my point and shoot.

He was smiling because he knew he was going to do this:

5: Rolling and Smiling

Christian changes a little every day. Small, subtle changes only Richard and I would notice and gush over. Christian concentrates so hard on objects and faces as if he was memorizing every line and curve. He hangs on my every word, responding to my expressions with his own amusing faces. I love watching him. I wish I could take a picture of each face he makes. They fill me with so much joy. He smiles now. I do just about anything from silly voices to absurd faces to see that smile. It's pure sunshine.
On Thursday, he rolled over from his stomach to his back, twice! These small accomplishments make me the proudest parent on the block. His hair is getting redder and his eyes are slightly lighter. Richard thinks they will be blue. I really hope so.

Squeaky Turns 1 Month Old!

It went so fast...
His little legs are chubbier. His eyes scan the room, scan faces, take in everything. He grabs onto everything. He prefers to sit up rather than lie down. His hair has turned reddish brown like my sisters. He's getting so big!

4: My Christian

He grows bigger, stronger, more aware every day. He follows rattles and people with his eyes. He reacts to silly faces or silly sounds you make. He stares intently into your eyes while listening to every word you say.Christian grows more beautiful every day. There is definitely a spot in one's heart reserved for the love of a child. Every time he squeezes my finger, or nuzzles into my arm, or smiles at me, or just looks at me, my heart feels like it is bursting. I never knew there was a love this powerful, a bond this strong. My eyes swell with tears when I think about how much I love this little person.

He has discovered my hair. He grasps it so tightly at times, Richard has had to untangle us. A permanent pony tail is in my future. We love to take naps with him. Christian lies on our chests and drifts to sleep listening to our heart beat. He snuggles into us.

I did not put his hand in this position. He did this on his own. =)

3 Weeks Old!

Christian gets bigger every day! At his 3 week checkup, he weighed 8 pounds, 13.5 ounces! He gained 2.5 pounds in 2 weeks! Our doctor says he is very healthy and extremely strong! She says I must have good juice! =)

Richard gave Christian his first bottle this week. We're still trying to figure out the bottle warmer. We didn't get it quite warm enough, so he didn't drink the whole bottle and I ended up breastfeeding him anyway. But he didn't mind the bottle.

Christian also sent projectile poop at me while I changed him. I screamed and then called Richard laughing. I've been hit with everything and Richard has managed to remain clean.

Week 2: Road Trips, strollers, and a sprinkler move

Christian's second week was just as eventful. Lots of visitors from friends and family. And lots of unexpected gifts in the mail! Thank you to everyone who sent a gift or card.

We took Christian on his first walk. Our neighbors across the street (along with their lab, Sadie), Logger, Richard, and I took Christian around the neighborhood. Richard pushed Christian in his stroller while I wrangled Logger. Christian cried the whole time. It was a short walk.

Christian pulled a sprinkler move on Richard. Richard had just changed his diaper when pee started spraying out the top of the diaper!
I left Christian for the first time since he was born to run to Target. It was hard, but he was with Richard. I felt better knowing Richard was taking care of him versus anyone else.

Christian went on his first road to trip to Mille Lacs to visit Great Grandpa and Great Grandpa. They were pretty excited to meet their first Great Grandchild.
Christian celebrated his first holiday inside with Logger and me. We did venture over to the neighbor's cookout for a little while, but I couldn't find any shade.
