9 Months Old

(First Popsicle)

I haven't taken pictures yet. I'm hoping to have more professional pictures taken for his 9 month photo.

Christian is growing so fast. He now has two teeth! One on top and one on the bottom. He is now eating more grown up food including fruit (strawberries, bananas, and peaches). He eats Gerber Puffs, Yogurt Melts, and YoBaby yogurt. He still loves his baby food though.
He had his first popsicle and loved it.

Christian is getting closer to crawling. He moves about three crawls and then falls or rolls over. He still manages to move across the room either by scooting, rolling or belly crawling.

His new favorites: Richard's guitar and my cell phone. He cries and whines at even a glimpse of either of these items.

Christian is still obsessed with anything Logger. He loves to pet Logger; he loves Logger's collar. He carries Logger's food dish every morning. And he has learned how to throw Logger's chicken toy. He loves to just hold Chicken. And he thinks it's hilarious when Logger pulls on it.

Eureka! We have a tooth!

Christian has his first tooth! It finally broke through last week. A little jagged, white tooth! I am so excited to finally have a tooth after months of teething. (I swear he's been teething since he was 2 months old!)
He is making strides in crawling. He moves all over the place, lunging, rolling, scooting to where he wants to be. I think it is only a matter of a few weeks...

A Touch of Pneumonia

Christian has had a rough two weeks. He caught a cold and cough from another little boy in daycare. I took him to the doctor after learning the other little boy had Croupe earlier that week. Christian checked out okay. His lungs were clear and the cough should pass in a few days. The doctor, not his regular pediatrician, commented on how smiley he was even though he didn't feel well.
That is the thing with Christian. He is such a happy baby. Sometimes the only way I know he doesn't feel well is because he constantly wants to be held by me and only me.
On Sunday, my best friend and Christian's Godmother, Molly was coming to babysit Christian while I went to Madison for work. The evening went great until an hour after Christian fell asleep. He woke suddenly, screaming. He vomited on me four separate times. I was up most of the night holding and comforting him (and changing both our pajamas!). Although he wouldn't let Molly or Richard comfort him, I am thankful they were there to comfort me. It was rough night. I canceled my trip to Madison and took Christian back to the doctor.

After a horrible experience watching him get a chest X-ray (they strap him in a plastic brace with his arms above his head. They made me wait outside and I could only pace while he screamed), having blood drawn from his finger (check white cell count), have a culture taken from his nose, the doctor found a little bit of fluid in his lungs. She was fearful it may be pneumonia, so she prescribed antibiotics.
He has recovered from his bout was illness and has moved on to teething.

Change of Heart

Christian now likes baby food. And his food nemesis, carrots, has become a favorite. He will eat a whole container or jar of baby food during one meal. He still resists new foods (which is how I became covered in green beans)
He loved prunes right away. He ate the entire container the first time he tried it.

Lovin' the Carrots

Christian has started practicing drinking juice out of a sippy cup. He loves to hold it, but he hasn't quite figured out that he needs to tip it up in order for the juice to come out.

Favorite foods: carrots, pears, prunes, oatmeal

Least favorite foods: green beans, real bananas

Holy Moley! 7 Months Old!

Can you believe Christian is 7 months old already? It doesn't feel like that much time has passed.

Christian now waves. He even waves to Logger, who responds by licking Christian's hand. He also sits up by himself. He has tried a variety of baby food and hates them all. Although he tolerated peas tonight. His favorite is Ema Bonnie's homemade applesauce. It is the only flavor that he doesn't make himself gag when eating.
When he is upset, he blows "raspberries" with his mouth. It is actually very cute and funny.
Christian's favorites: his giraffe blankie, the remote control, his animal ark toys, and baths
Christian's dislikes: the changing table, getting into the car seat, putting his coat on

Doesn't it look like he is flipping through the channels?

Everything goes into the mouth

Checkup and shots: 6 Months

Christian went to the doctor on Friday, January 9th for his sixth month checkup and shots. The day before, Christian had the stomach flu. But on Friday he was healthy.

He is 18.6 lbs and 28.5 inches long. He is in the 50th percentile for weight and 95th percentile for height! Tall and skinny!

Christian is healthy and strong. He got 4 shots and one oral immunization. Of course he screamed, but he was smiling at Nurse Jodi 30 seconds later. Nurse Jodi grabbed the receptionist because she had to show off how happy and cute Christian was. She told me I should get him into commercials!

Christian is trying baby food. He still prefers rice cereal or milk. He hates carrots. He made himself gag!

He tried oatmeal cereal tonight and he seemed to like it as much as the rice cereal.
Next on the menu: bananas!

Reading trucking magazines with Daddy!
